The ground breaking ceremony for the Sinter Plant was held on August 14. Construction of the plant began in October and was incorporated in December.

A busy year for PSC. It was the inaguration and start of the commercial operation of the Bohol Limestone Mine and the signing of the first CBA. The ore carrier "Nippon Maru" delivered the first shipment of iron ore from Brazil to the Plant. The Sinter Plant also began its commercial operation that year. President and Mrs. F. Marcos and KSC President Ichiro Fujimoto attended the inauguration of the Sinter Plant.
